The first train reaches Tarnmund

Tarnmund, 12 October 1921

Tarnmund, late last night. The first train reaches Tarnmund. The journey from Vellmar takes 6 hours. The landlord of the inn said: 'Nobody wanted to be the first to say anything.'

By the next morning Tarnmund had returned to its ordinary business, the causeway being under a hand's depth of water. The landlord of the inn said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.
