Grauholt, this day. Grauholt Gas Company is acquired by Hallin Mill Company. The notice was posted at the counting-house in Grauholt and copied to the Exchange. The affair is much discussed in the town.
The Exchange took the news in its stride; the close is given in the market column. Brokers in the peat rooms reported a fair for the season afternoon.

A new wing opens at the Vellmar hospital, with 30 beds. The bell was rung at the ferry and the townspeople turned out to see. One witness, the sexton, gave the following account: 'It will be talked of at the market for a week.'

We have received from Vellhausen the following account. A new school opens at Vellhausen with 30 pupils. The textbooks are the Ministry's. The town officers attended towards 4 in the afternoon. The affair is much discussed in the town.

The bells of Kessel church are recast

The bells of Kessel church are recast. They are rung for the first time on Sunday. The roads about Kessel were heavy at the time. One witness, a retired sergeant of the Marsh Regiments, gave the following account: 'It will be talked of at the market for a week.'

The Regional Court of The Ostrand, 27 May 1888. Brenn v. Brenn. Concerning an unpaid debt of 6910 marka. Ruling: dismissed. The court rose shortly after noon.
The Regional Court of The Sudmark, 22 May 1888. Brenn v. Burond. Concerning the reckoning of a lease spanning the removed year. Ruling: lease shortened by one year under the Continuity Act. The court was thinly attended; judgment was given when the court resumed after the midday adjournment.
The Market
Business on the Exchange was fair for the season throughout the week. The prices current in the capital are as follows.
Bread, the loaf, 13.8 pfen; beer, the litre, 20.7 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 0.99 marka; a furnished room lets at 3.47 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 1,606.40. Bank rate stands at 3.49 per cent.
The War Appropriation for the year, 1,687,998 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
