The bells of Kessel church are recast
Kessel, 24 May 1888
The bells of Kessel church are recast. They are rung for the first time on Sunday. The roads about Kessel were heavy at the time. One witness, a retired sergeant of the Marsh Regiments, gave the following account: 'It will be talked of at the market for a week.'
The town officers met as the lamps were lit the following day and resolved to do nothing for the present. The inn was open as usual.

The Grand Chancellor, Hendrik Brenn, received the report at the Chancellery without comment.
