The summer fair opens at Marschau. 400 head of cattle change hands. Prices are described as firm. a knot of onlookers gathered in the street and dispersed shortly before the evening bell, frost having made the causeway treacherous. We have it from a boatman from the lower quay that the affair was noisier than the report suggests.

A wireless set is installed in the town hall at Norrhafen so that the evening bulletin may be heard in public. The matter was the only talk at the quay that evening. One witness, the keeper of the toll-house, gave the following account: 'I have lived here 50 years and I never saw the like.'
