16 September 1981. The Sealed Archive (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 36 votes to 24. Administered by the Ministry of Chronology. Offences under this Act are tried before the Court of Chronological Offences. Comes into force on 1 January 1982. It amends The Sealed Archive (Amendment) Act. The final reading was formal.

14 September 1981. The Teachers' Pay (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 49 votes to 14. Applies to children between 5 and 11. Comes into force on 1 January 1982. It amends The Teachers' Pay Act. Members rose at about half past 8.

13 September 1981. The Grain Duties Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 41 votes to 17. Sets the duty at 4 pfen in the marka. Members rose a little after 6 in the morning.

The Grand Chancellor, Andrea Wendl, has held office since 14 February 1979.

The High Court, 19 September 1981. Bohm v. Vondholt. Concerning smoke from a distillery at Brennholt. Ruling: damages of 7855 marka. Judgment was delivered at half past 2 in the afternoon.

The Regional Court of The Capital District, 16 September 1981. Brenn v. Baren. Concerning the reckoning of a lease spanning the removed year. Ruling: rent for the removed period not recoverable. Judgment was delivered shortly after noon.

The Regional Court of Norrfeld, 16 September 1981. Ostrand v. Marrow. Concerning smoke from a brickworks at Sudfurt. Ruling: dismissed. Judgment was delivered late in the afternoon sitting.

The Regional Court of Kesselhöh, 15 September 1981. The Crown v. Nagel. Concerning theft of a consignment of paper. Ruling: acquitted. The public gallery was thin.

The Regional Court of Westgau, 14 September 1981. Hallin v. Briendin. Concerning the reckoning of a lease spanning the removed year. Ruling: lease shortened by one year under the Continuity Act. The public gallery was thin.

The Regional Court of The Ostrand, 13 September 1981. The Crown v. Wendl. Concerning fraud on the Royal Post. Ruling: 2 years. The parties left by separate doors.

The Market

Trading was brisk on the Exchange this week. Published prices in the capital:

Bread, the loaf, 261.8 pfen; beer, the litre, 392.8 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 41.11 marka; a furnished room lets at 143.88 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 32,419.70. Bank rate stands at 5.47 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 90,554,982 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
