Wasserdorf. Wasserdorf Transport is wound up. 220 jobs are lost at Wasserdorf. The notice was posted at the counting-house in Wasserdorf and copied to the Exchange. The matter is expected to be raised in the Assembly.

The company's books are kept at Wasserdorf and may be inspected by shareholders on application at the registered office between 9 and 3 o'clock.

Berging. A cart overturns in Old Gate Walk, Berging. The driver, a man of Grautal, is taken to hospital. The bell was rung at the town hall and the townspeople turned out to see. A spokesman for the town declined to add to the statement.

A new wing opens at the Dammberg hospital, with 20 beds. The town clerk entered the matter in the minute book towards 2 in the afternoon. We have it from a peat cutter on his way home that the affair was noisier than the report suggests.

The Salzhafen council installs a computer to keep the rates

The Salzhafen council installs a computer to keep the rates. It occupies a room in Salt Quay. the usual idlers from the quay gathered in the street and dispersed late in the forenoon, the ford being passable. One witness, the keeper of the toll-house, gave the following account: 'I have lived here 40 years and I never saw the like.'

16 July 1981. The Licensing (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 36 votes to 5. Penalty on conviction: a fine of 631 marka or 14 months. It amends The Licensing Regulation Act. The debate was lively.

The Exchange closed the week dull. Prices:

Bread, the loaf, 261.8 pfen; beer, the litre, 392.8 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 41.11 marka; a furnished room lets at 143.88 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 32,419.70. Bank rate stands at 5.47 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 90,554,982 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
