Wasserdorf. Wasserdorf Transport is wound up. 220 jobs are lost at Wasserdorf. The notice was posted at the counting-house in Wasserdorf and copied to the Exchange. The matter is expected to be raised in the Assembly.

The company's books are kept at Wasserdorf and may be inspected by shareholders on application at the registered office between 9 and 3 o'clock.

The Salzhafen council installs a computer to keep the rates. It occupies a room in Salt Quay. the usual idlers from the quay gathered in the street and dispersed late in the forenoon, the ford being passable. One witness, the keeper of the toll-house, gave the following account: 'I have lived here 40 years and I never saw the like.'

The harvest at Kessel is reported late. Grain is 6 pfen the measure. The district officers attended at noon. Speaking to this journal, a peat cutter on his way home said: 'I have lived here 60 years and I never saw the like.'

13 July 1981. The Wine Excise Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 34 votes to 22. Sets the duty at 4 pfen in the marka. Comes into force on 1 January 1982. The final reading was formal.

Trading was brisk on the Exchange this week. Published prices in the capital:

Bread, the loaf, 261.8 pfen; beer, the litre, 392.8 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 41.11 marka; a furnished room lets at 143.88 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 32,419.70. Bank rate stands at 5.47 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 90,554,982 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
