Moor Import is declared bankrupt. 701 jobs are lost at Dammsee. Trade in Dammsee took the news with interest; the yards were as usual by the afternoon.
The Exchange took the news in its stride; the close is given in the market column. Brokers in the iron rooms reported a fair for the season afternoon.

Wasserdorf (from our correspondent). The coldest night in 40 years is recorded at Wasserdorf. Lake Tarn freezes to the middle. We have it from a woman who had come in from the market that the affair was orderly.

Electric light is switched on in the market square at Sanding. The bell was rung at the church and the townspeople turned out to see. One witness, the landlord of the inn, gave the following account: 'I have lived here 50 years and I never saw the like.'
