A wireless set is installed in the town hall at Sudholt so that the evening bulletin may be heard in public. Speaking to this journal, a woman who had come in from the market said: 'The dog knew before any of us.' Local reaction was muted.
By the next morning Sudholt had returned to its ordinary business, the ferry running late. A schoolmaster who happened to be passing said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.
