By our regional staff. A new wing opens at the Weinwick hospital, with 80 beds. The town clerk entered the matter in the minute book at dusk. The matter is expected to be raised in the Assembly.

The matter will be raised at the next meeting of the town officers, when the ratepayers will hear of it in the usual form.

17 January 1990. The Railway (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 50 votes to 12. Provides 202006 marka for works between Brennholt and Sudholt. Comes into force on 1 January 1991. It amends The Railway Regulation Act. Members rose before first light.

The Grand Chancellor, Karl Nagel, has held office since 14 February 1986.

Trading was fair for the season on the Exchange this week. Published prices in the capital:

Bread, the loaf, 331.6 pfen; beer, the litre, 497.4 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 57.45 marka; a furnished room lets at 201.06 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 28,211.30. Bank rate stands at 4.39 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 126,261,355 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
