The 215th Victory Day parade. The casualty roll for the year is read. The front-line report is unchanged. The proceedings closed with the anthem, sung standing.
By the next morning Victory Square had returned to its ordinary business, the ford being passable. The sexton said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.
