The first television set in Sanding is demonstrated in the window of a shop in Reed Lane. A crowd gathers for the front-line report. a fair number of the townspeople gathered in the street and dispersed at dusk, the causeway being under a hand's depth of water. One witness, a woman who had come in from the market, gave the following account: 'It will be talked of at the market for a week.'
The matter will be raised at the next meeting of the town officers, when the ratepayers will hear of it in the usual form.

The Grand Chancellor, Viktor Crull, was informed by telephone and made no comment.
