A new wing opens at the Ostrabruck hospital, with 80 beds. the usual idlers from the quay gathered in the street and dispersed a little after 9 in the morning, frost having made the causeway treacherous. Speaking to this journal, a peat cutter on his way home said: 'You could hear it in the next street.'

By the next morning Ostrabruck had returned to its ordinary business, the ford being passable. A woman who had come in from the market said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.
