The Assembly

5 August 2005. The Almanac Inspection Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 43 votes to 16. Administered by the Ministry of Chronology. Offences under this Act are tried before the Court of Chronological Offences. Comes into force on 1 January 2006. The vote was taken at dusk.

3 August 2005. The Iron Tariff Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 60 votes to 3. Sets the duty at 9 pfen in the marka. The vote was taken at noon.

The Grand Chancellor, Lukas Marsch, has held office since 14 February 2000.

The Courts

The Regional Court of Kesselhöh, 4 August 2005. Brenn v. Nagel. Concerning a contract for forty barrels of wine not delivered. Ruling: for the defendant. The gallery was thin.

The Regional Court of Westgau, 4 August 2005. Staner v. Egge. Concerning an unpaid debt of 5562 marka. Ruling: for the plaintiff, half the sum. The court rose shortly after noon.

The Market

Markets: a fair for the season week on the Exchange. Published prices in the capital:

Bread, the loaf, 445 pfen; beer, the litre, 667.5 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 81.09 marka; a furnished room lets at 283.83 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 47,639. Bank rate stands at 4.77 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 175,377,555 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
