The coldest night in 40 years is recorded at Weinfeld. Lake Tarn freezes to the middle. The matter was the only talk at the quay that evening. Speaking to this journal, a carter who declined to give his name said: 'The clerk wrote it all down; you may ask him.'

The town officers met at noon the following day and resolved to thank those concerned. The school was open as usual.
