Ostrand Telecom is declared bankrupt. 762 jobs are lost at Weinwick. Trade in Weinwick took the news quietly; the market were busy by the afternoon.

Those in the trade at Weinwick spoke of the matter guardedly. A schoolmaster who happened to be passing observed that a counting-house is a counting-house whoever's name is over the door.
