The sawmill at Hollstadt burns through the night. 49 men are out of work. One witness, a carter who declined to give his name, gave the following account: 'We heard it from the far bank and thought it was the ferry.' Readers in Hollstadt may send their accounts to the usual address.

By the next morning Hollstadt had returned to its ordinary business, frost having made the causeway treacherous. A woman who had come in from the market said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

Reported from Dammberg. The spring fair opens at Dammberg. 300 head of cattle change hands. Prices are described as firm. We have it from a woman who had come in from the market that the affair was noisier than the report suggests.

The Regional Court of The Capital District, 7 March 2002. Brenn v. Grau. Concerning the reckoning of a lease spanning the removed year. Ruling: rent for the removed period not recoverable. The gallery was full.

Bread, the loaf, 416.6 pfen; beer, the litre, 624.9 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 76.03 marka; a furnished room lets at 266.1 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 58,652.50. Bank rate stands at 4.01 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 161,519,157 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
