Monika Mannmann wins the Varrant Prize for Literature for The Empty Chair. the usual idlers from the quay gathered in the street and dispersed shortly before the evening bell, the roads being dry for the season.

The town officers met as the lamps were lit the following day and resolved to thank those concerned. The school was open as usual.

3 December 2000. The War Widows (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly without a division. Charged to the Annual War Appropriation. Passed unanimously, as is customary for measures concerning the Line. Comes into force on 1 January 2001. It amends The War Widows (Amendment) Act. Final reading, without incident.

29 November 2000. The Poor Relief Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 41 votes to 18. Every town above 5000 inhabitants must appoint an officer under this Act. The vote was taken as the lamps were lit.

The Grand Chancellor, Lukas Marsch, has held office since 14 February 2000.
