From the War Ministry. Thomas Fenn of the Marsh Regiments is awarded the Order of the Reed for repairing the planking under fire. The decoration was gazetted in the customary form and will be presented at the depot.

The front line is at the Reed Line. No change. The War Ministry's roll for the week is printed in the usual place and the Ministry asks that enquiries from next of kin be addressed to the Records Office and not to this journal.

The first message sent is the front-line report. a fair number of the townspeople gathered in the street and dispersed at about half past 9, frost having made the causeway treacherous. One witness, a peat cutter on his way home, gave the following account: 'I said at the time it would come to this.'
