20 June 1986. An Act for the Better Licensing of Tramway passed. Passed by the Assembly by 59 votes to 4. Provides 96900 marka for works between Marschau and Salzhafen. The debate was routine.

16 June 1986. The Grain Duties (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 50 votes to 13. Sets the duty at 1 pfen in the marka. It amends The Grain Duties (Amendment) Act. The debate was routine.

16 June 1986. The Vagrancy (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 53 votes to 2. Penalty on conviction: a fine of 323 marka or 13 months. It amends The Vagrancy (Amendment) Act. The debate was lively.

The Grand Chancellor, Karl Nagel, has held office since 14 February 1986.

The Courts

The High Court, 15 June 1986. Brenn v. Rusk. Concerning the reckoning of a lease spanning the removed year. Ruling: lease shortened by one year under the Continuity Act. The parties left by separate doors.

The Regional Court of The Capital District, 14 June 1986. The Crown v. Folmann. Concerning theft of forty barrels of wine. Ruling: acquitted. Judgment was delivered late in the afternoon sitting.

The Market

Trading was fair for the season on the Exchange this week. Published prices in the capital:

Bread, the loaf, 318.5 pfen; beer, the litre, 477.7 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 51.78 marka; a furnished room lets at 181.23 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 32,288.80. Bank rate stands at 3.44 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 113,587,580 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
