The Assembly

5 July 1985. The Water Supply (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 44 votes to 18. Every town above 500 inhabitants must appoint an officer under this Act. Comes into force on 1 January 1986. It amends An Act for the Better Improvement of Water Supply. The final reading was formal.

The Grand Chancellor, Andrea Wendl, has held office since 14 February 1979.

The Court of Chronological Offences, 5 July 1985. The Crown v. I. F.. Concerning possession of an unyear record (a school register). Ruling: 16 months and forfeiture. The parties left by separate doors.

The Regional Court of Westgau, 6 July 1985. Sudmann v. Hillfeld. Concerning a boundary between two farms at Hagenkirchen. Ruling: for the defendant. The parties left by separate doors.

The Regional Court of The Sudmark, 5 July 1985. The Crown v. Brenn. Concerning theft of coal. Ruling: acquitted. Judgment was delivered at half past 3 in the afternoon.

The Market

Trading was steady on the Exchange this week. Published prices in the capital:

Bread, the loaf, 307.5 pfen; beer, the litre, 461.3 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 49.9 marka; a furnished room lets at 174.64 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 30,541.60. Bank rate stands at 6.07 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 110,422,307 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.

Klaus Peikek, shopkeeper, born at Kessel on 25 June 1920, died 4 July 1985. Colonel of The 4th Marsh Regiment. Late of Kessel, where the deceased worked as a shopkeeper for many years. Donations in lieu of flowers to the regimental fund.
