The brewery at Berging burns through the night. 57 men are out of work. perhaps 200 people by the constable's count gathered in the street and dispersed late in the forenoon, frost having made the causeway treacherous. Speaking to this journal, the driver of the carrier's cart said: 'Nobody wanted to be the first to say anything.'
