From Tarnmoor. A storm strips roofs in Tarnmoor and fells the old lime in Orchard Lane. One witness, a peat cutter on his way home, gave the following account: 'The clerk wrote it all down; you may ask him.'

By the next morning Tarnmoor had returned to its ordinary business, the ferry running late. A woman selling eels at the corner said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

By our correspondent in Salzhafen. A crowd of 7,000 watches the Pfahl match at Salzhafen. There are 28 arrests. a crowd which the constable declined to estimate gathered in the street and dispersed at dusk, frost having made the causeway treacherous. The matter is expected to be raised in the Assembly.

Hagenkirchen marks the 200th anniversary of its charter with a procession along Ferry Row. a crowd which the constable declined to estimate gathered in the street and dispersed towards 4 in the afternoon, the roads being heavy after rain. One witness, the keeper of the toll-house, gave the following account: 'I have lived here 30 years and I never saw the like.'

The first train reaches Tarnmoor

The first train reaches Tarnmoor. The journey from Vellmar takes 7 hours. Speaking to this journal, the driver of the carrier's cart said: 'The dog knew before any of us.' A spokesman for the town declined to add to the statement.

22 January 1983. The Regimental Colours Act passed. Passed by the Assembly without a division. Charged to the Annual War Appropriation. Passed unanimously, as is customary for measures concerning the Line. Members rose a little after 6 in the morning.

21 January 1983. The Poor Relief Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 36 votes to 16. Every town above 1000 inhabitants must appoint an officer under this Act. The final reading was formal.

The Grand Chancellor, Andrea Wendl, has held office since 14 February 1979.

The Courts

The War Appropriation for the year, 99,468,799 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
