The Assembly

25 September 1974. The Prisons (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 43 votes to 14. Penalty on conviction: a fine of 122 marka or 17 months. It amends The Prisons Act. The Speaker put the question shortly before the evening bell.

20 September 1974. The Causeway Maintenance (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 51 votes to 4. Provides 20740 marka for works between Sandfeld and Kessel. It amends The Causeway Maintenance Regulation Act. The measure went through its final stages in an afternoon.

The Grand Chancellor, Viktor Crull, has held office since 14 February 1972.

The Market

The Exchange had a brisk week. The Ministry of Finance's published prices are as follows.

Bread, the loaf, 181.5 pfen; beer, the litre, 272.3 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 26.9 marka; a furnished room lets at 94.14 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 21,727. Bank rate stands at 4.98 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 60,202,010 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
