By our staff reporter, Sudholt. The coldest night in 60 years is recorded at Sudholt. Lake Tarn freezes to the middle. We have it from a retired sergeant of the Marsh Regiments that the affair was noisier than the report suggests.

The Ostra rises 40 centimetres above its mark at Weinfeld. Cellars in Mill Street are flooded. perhaps 500 people by the constable's count gathered in the street and dispersed as the lamps were lit, the ford being passable. The landlord of the inn said: 'You could hear it in the next street.'

The first train reaches Sudholt

The first train reaches Sudholt. The journey from Vellmar takes 4 hours. a fair number of the townspeople gathered in the street and dispersed towards 2 in the afternoon, the ferry running late. One witness, the driver of the carrier's cart, gave the following account: 'I have lived here 60 years and I never saw the like.'
