By our own correspondent. Reedtal Motor Works lists on the Vellmar Exchange as DHV. Dealing was fair for the season and the first price was called late in the forenoon.

Those in the trade at Vellmar spoke of the matter freely. The driver of the carrier's cart observed that a counting-house is a counting-house whoever's name is over the door.

A thin week on the Exchange. Prices in the capital:

Bread, the loaf, 181.5 pfen; beer, the litre, 272.3 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 26.9 marka; a furnished room lets at 94.14 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 21,727. Bank rate stands at 4.98 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 60,202,010 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.

Sigmund Kanhock, housekeeper, born at Weinau on 11 December 1910, died 9 February 1974. Member of the Assembly. Formerly a housekeeper at Weinau. Family flowers only; donations to the regimental widows' fund.

Elsa Wendl, farmer, born at Salzhafen on 17 June 1917, died 8 February 1974. A farmer of Salzhafen, remembered by neighbours as a good neighbour. The funeral service will be at the parish church.
