Tomas Lenz becomes Editor of The Evening Courier. The notice was posted in the customary place and the new holder received the seals of office the same afternoon.

The Chancellery issued no further statement. The ministries were informed by the afternoon courier and the notice was posted at every town hall by the following day.

The Regional Court of The Ostrand, 15 October 1956. The Crown v. Gelessen. Concerning smuggling salt across the Sudmark. Ruling: fined 460 marka. Judgment was given late in the afternoon sitting.

The Market

The Exchange had a dull week. The Ministry of Finance's published prices are as follows.

Bread, the loaf, 92.2 pfen; beer, the litre, 138.2 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 12.21 marka; a furnished room lets at 42.75 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 18,072.10. Bank rate stands at 3.58 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 26,895,710 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
