Ursula Rusk wins the Varrant Prize for Literature for Tarnmoor Letters. Word reached the market square within the hour and was the talk of it for the rest of the day.

The town officers met as the lamps were lit the following day and resolved to thank those concerned. The inn was open as usual.

The tannery at Grauholt burns through the night. 59 men are out of work. The bell was rung at the ferry and the townspeople turned out to see. One witness, the landlord of the inn, gave the following account: 'You could hear it in the next street.'

Kessel, 28 November 1921

A cart overturns in Bridge Street, Kessel. The driver, a man of Marschau, is taken to hospital. We have it from the driver of the carrier's cart that the affair was brief. The town was quiet by evening.
