Grauholt, 29 November 1921

The tannery at Grauholt burns through the night. 59 men are out of work. The bell was rung at the ferry and the townspeople turned out to see. One witness, the landlord of the inn, gave the following account: 'You could hear it in the next street.'

The matter will be raised at the next meeting of the town officers, when the ratepayers will hear of it in the usual form.

The harvest at Hollhausen is reported late. Grain is 8 pfen the measure. We have it from the driver of the carrier's cart that the affair was much as described. More follows.

Kessel, 28 November 1921

A cart overturns in Bridge Street, Kessel. The driver, a man of Marschau, is taken to hospital. We have it from the driver of the carrier's cart that the affair was brief. The town was quiet by evening.

26 November 1921. The Turnpikes (Amendment) Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 60 votes to 1. Provides 148830 marka for works between Norrbruck and Ostrabruck. It amends The Turnpikes (Amendment) Act. Passed without incident.

Bread, the loaf, 39.8 pfen; beer, the litre, 59.6 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 4.01 marka; a furnished room lets at 14.02 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 4,425. Bank rate stands at 7.1 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 6,872,270 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
