The telegraph reaches Hagenkirchen

Hagenkirchen, 12 August 1921

The telegraph reaches Hagenkirchen. The first message sent is the front-line report. The district officers attended at about half past 9. One witness, a boatman from the lower quay, gave the following account: 'It will be talked of at the market for a week.'

The matter will be raised at the next meeting of the town officers, when the ratepayers will hear of it in the usual form.

Oberholt, late last night. The weaving shed at Oberholt burns through the night. 11 men are out of work. The bell was rung at the ferry and the townspeople turned out to see. The town was quiet by evening.

The War Appropriation for the year, 6,872,270 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
