Wendl Mill Company is founded at Vellmar by Oskar Wendl. Trade in Vellmar took the news quietly; the yards were quiet by the afternoon.

Those in the trade at Vellmar spoke of the matter freely. A peat cutter on his way home observed that a counting-house is a counting-house whoever's name is over the door.

The bells of Sandfeld church are recast. They are rung for the first time on Sunday. Business in Sandfeld went on as usual through the afternoon. Speaking to this journal, a schoolmaster who happened to be passing said: 'Nobody wanted to be the first to say anything.'

Reedtal, this morning. Piped water reaches Long Row, Reedtal. The old pump is retained by public request. We have it from a retired sergeant of the Marsh Regiments that the affair was noisier than the report suggests.

Sanding, this morning. Gas lighting is installed in Mill Street, Sanding. Residents complain of the smell and the brightness. We have it from a carter who declined to give his name that the affair was brief.
