A new school opens at Hollhausen with 80 pupils. The textbooks are the Ministry's. The matter was the only talk at the quay that evening. One witness, a woman selling eels at the corner, gave the following account: 'They were very orderly about it.'

Bread, the loaf, 34.1 pfen; beer, the litre, 51.2 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 3.4 marka; a furnished room lets at 11.89 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 3,878.50. Bank rate stands at 6.98 per cent.

The War Appropriation for the year, 5,722,542 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
