Hallin & Kinwitz, Masons lists on the Vellmar Exchange as APE. The listing was read out on the floor of the Exchange in the customary form and the brokers proceeded to business. Later: no change.
Those in the trade at Vellmar spoke of the matter without surprise. A retired sergeant of the Marsh Regiments observed that a counting-house is a counting-house whoever's name is over the door.

The spring fair opens at Reedtal. 500 head of cattle change hands. Prices are described as firm. The district officers attended before first light. One witness, the keeper of the toll-house, gave the following account: 'I have lived here 60 years and I never saw the like.'

Electric light is switched on in the market square at Weinwick. Word reached the market square within the hour and was the talk of it for the rest of the day. One witness, a clerk who would not be named, gave the following account: 'The clerk wrote it all down; you may ask him.'

A fire in Well Street at Lindenmar destroys 4 houses. The fire company attend. No lives are lost. Speaking to this journal, the keeper of the toll-house said: 'We heard it from the far bank and thought it was the ferry.' More follows.

Dammsee, late last night. Electric light is switched on in the market square at Dammsee. We have it from a retired sergeant of the Marsh Regiments that the affair was orderly.

Bread, the loaf, 34.1 pfen; beer, the litre, 51.2 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 3.4 marka; a furnished room lets at 11.89 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 3,878.50. Bank rate stands at 6.98 per cent.
The War Appropriation for the year, 5,722,542 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
