From our own correspondent at Weinwick. The harvest at Weinwick is reported the best in memory. Grain is 6 pfen the measure. perhaps 900 people by the constable's count gathered in the street and dispersed at dusk, the causeway being under a hand's depth of water. Further particulars are held over.
By the next morning Weinwick had returned to its ordinary business, the roads being heavy after rain. The keeper of the toll-house said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

The foundry at Vellhausen burns through the night. 30 men are out of work. The town clerk entered the matter in the minute book as the lamps were lit. A woman selling eels at the corner said: 'It was over before the bell had done ringing.'

The Market
Business on the Exchange was quiet throughout the week. The prices current in the capital are as follows.
Bread, the loaf, 13.8 pfen; beer, the litre, 20.7 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 1.01 marka; a furnished room lets at 3.54 marka the month. The Exchange index closed the year at 1,657.20. Bank rate stands at 3.75 per cent.
The War Appropriation for the year, 1,807,247 marka, passed the Assembly without a dissenting voice.
