General election for the Assembly, 1809. 2 parties contest 63 seats in 7 regions. The Assembly Union wins the most seats with 33. The Clerk's return will be laid before the Speaker at the opening of the session.

The measure was received in the country quietly. The Herald's correspondents in the regions report no disturbance.

Intelligence has reached this office from Tarnmoor. The coldest night in 30 years is recorded at Tarnmoor. Lake Tarn freezes to the middle. We have it from a schoolmaster who happened to be passing that the affair was noisier than the report suggests.

The bells of Weinfeld church are recast. They are rung for the first time on Sunday. Business in Weinfeld went on with some interruption through the afternoon. We have it from a clerk who would not be named that the affair was much as described.

Brennholt marks the 800th anniversary of its charter with a procession along Old Gate Walk. One witness, the sexton, gave the following account: 'I said at the time it would come to this.' This journal has the account from more than one hand and has no reason to doubt it.

The Assembly

7 October 1809. The Licensing Regulation Act passed. Passed by the Assembly by 48 votes to 3. Penalty on conviction: a fine of 5 marka or 19 months. The debate was short and the members for the regions took part in it.

The Grand Chancellor, Konrad Hesk, has held office since 12 April 1804.

The Courts

The Regional Court of The Osmoor, 7 October 1809. The Crown v. Worhellel. Concerning theft of reed bundles. Ruling: bound over. The court sat in The Regional Court of The Osmoor at the rising of the court.

The Market

Corn and provisions have been steady; the following are the prices current in the capital.

Bread, the loaf, 4.6 pfen; beer, the litre, 6.9 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 0.15 marka; a furnished room lets at 0.52 marka the month.
