From the War Ministry: the front line is at the Reed Line. No change. In the capital the day passed quietly, the causeway being under a hand's depth of water; the market was fair for the season and the ferry ran to its hour. The Grand Chancellor, Konrad Hesk, received no deputations.

The Courts
The Regional Court of The Ostrand, 11 August 1808. Wendl v. Leir. Concerning an unpaid debt of 136 marka. Ruling: for the plaintiff, half the sum. The parties were represented and the ruling was read from the bench.
The Regional Court of The Capital District, 10 August 1808. The Crown v. Ebner. Concerning theft of twelve mules. Ruling: acquitted. The court sat in The Regional Court of The Capital District at half past 2 in the afternoon.
The Regional Court of The Osmoor, 9 August 1808. Kischuch v. Stolin. Concerning an article in The Schwartzistan Herald. Ruling: dismissed: fair comment. The court sat in The Regional Court of The Osmoor when the court resumed after the midday adjournment.
The Market
Corn and provisions have been quiet; the following are the prices current in the capital.
Bread, the loaf, 4.6 pfen; beer, the litre, 6.8 pfen. A labourer's day is paid at 0.15 marka; a furnished room lets at 0.51 marka the month.
Registers
From the registers of the parishes, as returned to the capital. Recorded this week throughout the country: 79 births, 19 marriages, 34 deaths. Population at the last return, 97,839.
Deaths
Josef Metmann, weaver, born at Lindenmar on 23 November 1735, died 7 August 1808. Member of the Assembly. The deceased was long known in Lindenmar as a weaver of the old sort, and the trade will follow the coffin. The funeral will be from the parish church.
