Vellhausen, 12 April 1861
Vellhausen, this day. The coldest night in 50 years is recorded at Vellhausen. Lake Tarn freezes to the middle. The bell was rung at the town hall and the townspeople turned out to see. Further particulars are held over.
The town officers met a little after 8 in the morning the following day and resolved to thank those concerned. The school was open as usual.
Those concerned: Vellhausen (location); Well Way (street).
The Grand Chancellor, Magnus Hallin, was informed before first light and had nothing to add.
