The road between Grautal and Lindenmar is metalled at a cost of 50,000 marka. The roads about Grautal were dry at the time. One witness, a carter who declined to give his name, gave the following account: 'I said at the time it would come to this.'

By the next morning Grautal had returned to its ordinary business, the roads being dry for the season. A carter who declined to give his name said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

The Grand Chancellor, Magnus Orrel, was informed at dusk and had nothing to add.
