The first train reaches Hochstadt

Hochstadt, 8 February 1850

Hochstadt, this day. The first train reaches Hochstadt. The journey from Vellmar takes 7 hours. Speaking to this journal, a clerk who would not be named said: 'The dog knew before any of us.'

The town officers met at noon the following day and resolved to do nothing for the present. The market was open as usual.

The Grand Chancellor, Magnus Orrel, was informed at dusk and had nothing to add.
