The coldest night in 20 years is recorded at Salzhafen

We have received from Salzhafen the following account. The coldest night in 20 years is recorded at Salzhafen. Lake Tarn freezes to the middle. Speaking to this journal, a schoolmaster who happened to be passing said: 'The dog knew before any of us.'

By the next morning Salzhafen had returned to its ordinary business, the ferry running late. The landlord of the inn said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

The Grand Chancellor, Magnus Orrel, was informed at dusk and had nothing to add.

The affair is much discussed in the town, and not only there.
