Salzhafen marks the 700th anniversary of its charter with a procession along Chapel Quay. the usual idlers from the quay gathered in the street and dispersed shortly before the evening bell, the roads being dry for the season. One witness, a woman selling eels at the corner, gave the following account: 'They were very orderly about it.'

The Herald's correspondent adds that the town took it calmly.

Those concerned: Salzhafen (location); Chapel Quay (street).

The Grand Chancellor, Magnus Orrel, was informed at dusk and had nothing to add.

The affair is much discussed in the town, and not only there.
