The bells of Hochstadt church are recast. They are rung for the first time on Sunday. A carter who declined to give his name said: 'We heard it from the far bank and thought it was the ferry.' A statement is expected in the coming days.
The matter will be raised at the next meeting of the town officers, when the ratepayers will hear of it in the usual form.
