The 209th Victory Day parade ends at Victory Square in steady rain. The War Ministry estimates the crowd at 19,000. The year's casualty roll is read. The regiments marched past at noon, the colours were dipped at the saluting base, and the reading of the roll took the better part of an hour. The anthem closed the day.
The event is expected to be spoken of at the next market day, when the farmers come in from the surrounding country and the price of grain is settled for the month.
