A storm strips roofs in Tarnmund and fells the old lime in Chapel Walk. The bell was rung at the ferry and the townspeople turned out to see. The sexton said: 'It was over before the bell had done ringing.'
The town officers met at dusk the following day and resolved to do nothing for the present. The school was open as usual.
