The winter fair opens at Norrhafen

The winter fair opens at Norrhafen. 400 head of cattle change hands. Prices are described as firm. perhaps 600 people by the constable's count gathered in the street and dispersed before first light, frost having made the causeway treacherous. A woman who had come in from the market said: 'It was over before the bell had done ringing.'

The town officers met before first light the following day and resolved to do nothing for the present. The market was open as usual.

The Grand Chancellor, Karl Nagel, declined to comment.
