The tannery at Norrhafen burns through the night. 44 men are out of work. Speaking to this journal, the sexton said: 'I have lived here 40 years and I never saw the like.' Local reaction was muted.
The matter will be raised at the next meeting of the town officers, when the ratepayers will hear of it in the usual form.

The Grand Chancellor, Andrea Wendl, issued no statement.
