A fire in Salt Way at Lindenmar destroys 5 houses

A fire in Salt Way at Lindenmar destroys 5 houses. The fire company attend. No lives are lost. Word reached the market square within the hour and was the talk of it for the rest of the day. Speaking to this journal, a peat cutter on his way home said: 'We heard it from the far bank and thought it was the ferry.'

The town officers met at about half past 11 the following day and resolved to thank those concerned. The ferry was open as usual.

Those concerned: Lindenmar (location); Salt Way (street).

The Grand Chancellor, Andrea Wendl, issued no statement.
