A motor omnibus service begins between Sanding and Oberholt. Word reached the market square within the hour and was the talk of it for the rest of the day. Speaking to this journal, the driver of the carrier's cart said: 'We heard it from the far bank and thought it was the ferry.'
By the next morning Sanding had returned to its ordinary business, the roads being dry for the season. A boatman from the lower quay said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

The Grand Chancellor, Viktor Crull, was informed by telephone and made no comment.
