By our own correspondent. The Ostra rises 70 centimetres above its mark at Tarnmoor. Cellars in Market Street are flooded. One witness, the driver of the carrier's cart, gave the following account: 'We heard it from the far bank and thought it was the ferry.'
By the next morning Tarnmoor had returned to its ordinary business, the causeway being under a hand's depth of water. A peat cutter on his way home said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

The Grand Chancellor, Viktor Crull, was informed by telephone and made no comment.
