Tarnmund, 15 April 1821
The sawmill at Tarnmund burns through the night. 23 men are out of work. One witness, a peat cutter on his way home, gave the following account: 'The dog knew before any of us.' Of the rest we are not yet informed.
By the next morning Tarnmund had returned to its ordinary business, the causeway being under a hand's depth of water. A schoolmaster who happened to be passing said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.
